Olaf Rude is one of the most prominent Danish modernist painters. He is best known for his colorful landscape paintings and stylized nature motifs, where he explored the relationship between color and form with a simplified yet powerful style. Rude was a central figure in the artists' association Grønningen and contributed to bringing international modernism into Danish art. He was one of the first artists to introduce Cubism in Denmark after staying in Paris.
