Tapio Wirkkala (1915–1985) was a Finnish designer, sculptor and interior architect, widely regarded as one of the leading figures of twentieth-century Scandinavian design. Working across glass, porcelain, silver, wood and industrial design, he created numerous iconic works for companies including Iittala, Rosenthal and Venini. His organic aesthetic and innovative approach to materials have had a lasting influence on international design.
