Bio:
Simone Picciotto was born in Cairo into an Italian family and has lived in Belgium, Italy, and France, where she later settled. She received a first prize at the Fine Arts Academy in Brussels and worked in Paris in the ateliers of Fernand Léger and later Jean Deyrolle. Her work is characterised by highly imaginative and poetic compositions, combining diverse and often worn materials into richly coloured surfaces. Figures and faces are frequently layered and shown from multiple angles, creating a distinctive and evocative visual language.
