Large seated Buddha figure executed in patinated bronze with a serene facial expression, detailed draped robes and a decorative lotus-shaped base. The surface displays warm copper-brown tones and a naturally developed patina.

Bio:
Bronze Buddha figures have been a central part of Buddhist art throughout Asia for centuries. Seated representations were created according to traditional iconographic principles, in which posture, hand gestures and robes carried symbolic meaning. Larger bronze figures such as this required considerable technical skill in casting and were often produced with particular attention to sculptural modelling, ornamentation and surface treatment.
