Heikki Orvola for Nuutajärvi, vase.
Slender bottle-shaped vase in clear art glass with integrated white spiral and thread pattern executed in layered technique. The piece is mouth-blown and retains its original Nuutajärvi 1793 Wärtsilä Finland sticker, as well as a signature. The form and optical decoration are characteristic of Finnish art glass from the 1970s.

Bio:
Heikki Orvola (born 1943) is a prominent Finnish designer and glass artist, educated at the Institute of Industrial Arts in Helsinki. He began working with Nuutajärvi in the late 1960s and quickly became known for his disciplined, functional approach combined with refined glassmaking techniques. During the 1970s, he focused on optical effects and spiral and thread patterns, where light and movement are integral to the expression. Orvola is today regarded as one of the key figures in the development of modern Finnish glass design.
