Short biography of Korean ceramics:
The Korean ceramic tradition spans over a thousand years and is particularly renowned for Buncheong ware and the white porcelains of the Joseon dynasty. Characteristic features include free, lively brushwork in underglaze, often combined with a simple glaze that enhances the decoration. In the 19th century, many plates and dishes continued to be produced using traditional methods such as wood firing and hand-throwing, giving each piece its own unique character.
