Royal Copenhagen, Flora Danica triangular dish.
Triangular dish from the Flora Danica service in hand-painted porcelain, decorated with the botanical species Viola odorata L. The motif depicts the plant with leaves, violet flowers and a finely detailed root system, surrounded by the services characteristic pierced and richly gilded border. The underside is inscribed with the plants Latin name and marked with Royal Copenhagens three waves, model number 20/3508 and painters marks. First quality, made in 1963.

Bio:
Royal Copenhagen was founded in 1775 as the Danish Porcelain Factory and came under royal ownership in 1779. The Flora Danica service was begun in 1790, taking its botanical imagery from the monumental Danish Flora Danica reference work. The original service was conceived as a royal prestige project, with the majority of its 1,802 pieces produced during the work of porcelain painter Johann Christoph Bayer. Flora Danica continues to be made by hand, with each piece individually decorated with botanical motifs and gilding.
