Round fruit plate from the Flora Danica service in hand-painted porcelain, decorated with a naturalistic motif of a pear on a branch with green leaves. The plate features the services characteristic pierced border with richly gilded details and a beaded rim. First quality, model number 429/3554, made in 1962.

Bio:
Royal Copenhagen was founded in 1775 by apothecary Frantz Henrich Müller under the patronage of Dowager Queen Juliane Marie and became the Royal Danish Porcelain Factory in 1779. Flora Danica was begun in 1790 as a prestigious royal project featuring botanical motifs from the monumental Danish Flora Danica reference work. Johann Christoph Bayer worked on the original service for 12 years and produced the majority of its 1,802 pieces. Flora Danica is renowned for its demanding craftsmanship, including individual hand-painting, pierced borders and 24-carat gold decoration.
