Bio:
Édouard Chapallaz (1921–2016) was a Swiss ceramicist born in Yverdon-les-Bains. He trained at the Swiss School of Ceramics in Chavannes-Renens and later worked in the ceramics industry as well as teaching ceramic technology in Geneva. From the late 1950s, he developed an extensive independent practice centred on stoneware, glazes and high-temperature firing. Chapallaz is regarded as one of the significant Swiss ceramicists of the second half of the 20th century and, alongside his unique works, created a number of large-scale ceramic installations for public buildings.
