Bio:
Ivar Ekelund (1908–2002) was a Swedish artist and designer born in Stockholm. During the 1940s, he studied at Signe Barths painting school and at Isaac Grünewalds art school, where he studied under Grünewald, a central figure in the introduction of Modernism to Swedish art. Ekelund also studied at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris. He first exhibited at Galleri Moderne in Stockholm in 1948 and subsequently exhibited in Sweden, Warsaw, and Berlin until the mid-1960s. His work is represented in the collections of Moderna Museet in Stockholm and Ystad Art Museum.
