Bio:
Bram van Velde (1895–1981) was one of the most important Dutch modernist painters of the twentieth century. Working primarily in Paris, he developed a highly personal abstract visual language characterised by expressive brushwork, luminous layers of colour, and a delicate balance between form and space. Closely associated with post-war European abstraction, his work was admired by collectors and intellectuals alike, including the writer Samuel Beckett, who wrote extensively about his art. Van Velde's lithographs retain the same painterly freedom and expressive intensity as his original paintings, making them highly sought after by collectors of European modernism.
