Bio:
Peter Ilsted (1861–1933) was a Danish painter and printmaker, renowned for his tranquil interior scenes characterized by subtle light and refined spatial composition. He was a key figure in the Copenhagen interior school alongside Vilhelm Hammershøi and Carl Holsøe. Ilsted specialized in mezzotint and contributed significantly to technical developments in colour printing, particularly through the use of the à la poupée inking method. His prints are considered among the finest examples of the medium.
