Bio:
Gunnar Nylund (1904–1997) was one of the most influential Swedish-Danish ceramic artists of the 20th century. He served as artistic director at Rörstrand from 1931 to 1955, where he developed his distinctive matte feldspar glazes, hare’s fur glazes, and the well-known stoneware animal figures. Born in Paris to artist parents, he co-founded the Saxbo studio with Nathalie Krebs before beginning his long association with Rörstrand. He later worked with glass and was also connected with Nymølle. His work is characterised by balanced proportions and advanced glaze techniques, combining industrial production with a strong artistic identity.
