Johnny Madsen (b. 1951, Thyborøn, died 2024) is a Danish painter, musician, and songwriter. As a visual artist, he is self-taught and works primarily with expressive, colorist paintings often inspired by the nature and life by the North Sea. His works are characterized by vigorous brushstrokes, strong colors, and a spontaneous energy that relates closely to the abstract expressionist idiom. Alongside his musical career, Madsen has exhibited widely in galleries and art societies across Denmark, and his paintings are today sought after by collectors.
