Peter Vilhelm Ilsted (1861–1933) was a Danish painter and printmaker, closely associated with Vilhelm Hammershøi and Carl Holsøe. He became especially renowned for his evocative interior scenes and his mastery of the mezzotint technique, which he elevated to an international level. Ilsted’s works convey serenity, simplicity, and Nordic light, and today he is regarded as one of the foremost representatives of Danish interior art in the early 20th century.
