Biography:
Lars Bertle (born 1925 in Helsingborg, Sweden) is a self-taught Swedish artist who only began painting full-time in the late 1960s. His works range from landscapes and still lifes to abstract compositions, often inspired by nature and the sea. Bertle is known for his expressionist style and use of a palette knife, which gives his paintings a dynamic and tactile quality.
He has had several solo exhibitions in Sweden, including at venues such as Vikingsbergs Konstmuseum in Helsingborg, Galleri HERA in Stockholm and Galleri Viktoria in Gothenburg. His works are represented in several public collections, including Helsingborgs Museum, Statens Konstråd and Landskrona Museum.
Bertle has received several scholarships and awards, including Helsingborgs Stads Kulturstipendium in 1967 and Statens Konstnärsbidrag in 1978 and 1992.
