Hand-thrown stoneware vase with a cylindrical neck and rounded body, decorated with a tactile hand-painted blue and brown relief glaze and a softly speckled light upper section – a fine example of Hjorth’s signature textured surfaces.
Origin: Denmark, Bornholm.
Material: Stoneware.
Dimensions: H. 14 cm, D. 9 cm.
Period: 1960s.
Condition: Very good condition with minor signs of wear.
Bio:
Founded in 1859, L. Hjorth’s Terracotta Factory is one of Bornholm’s most significant ceramic workshops. By the mid-20th century, the studio had developed a strong stoneware tradition characterised by hand-thrown forms, rich glazes, and intricately textured decoration. These pieces are now valued for their artistic quality and exceptional craftsmanship.
